Short Description: Rainbow are a British rock band formed in London and Los Angeles in 1975 by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. At the same time, Dio was playing with the rock band Elf and they released two albums. Blackmore invited Ronnie James Dio to join them and they recorded their self-titled debut album. Ritchie Blackmore fired the supporting members and continued with Ronnie James Dio. Rainbow recorded two more studio albums with Dio - Rising (1976) and Long Live Rock n Roll (1978) - before he left the band to join Black Sabbath in 1979.
