ПревюThe Turkish postal administration issued on April 23, 2026 the commemorative series “Cartoon Heroes: Anatolia Rock,” one of the most vibrant and modern philatelic releases of the year. The series presents Anatolian rock in a contemporary animated style, combining youthful energy, musical culture and decorative motifs characteristic of the region. The issue is aimed at collectors who appreciate modern graphic design and thematic series related to music, animation and pop culture.

The series consists of two postage stamps, each with a face value of 45 Turkish lira, printed by digital printing at PTT Matbaası in Ankara. The format is horizontal, measuring 52 × 36 mm, and the print run is limited to 50,000 copies, which gives the issue added collectible value. The first stamp depicts a group of animated characters – young musicians illustrated in vivid colors and dynamic poses against a background of geometric motifs. It emphasizes the spirit of friendship, music and contemporary Turkish youth culture. The second stamp is dedicated to the musical instruments characteristic of Anatolian rock, such as electric guitar, keyboard, cassette player and amplifier, arranged on a stylized decorative background. This composition pays tribute to the region’s rich musical tradition, presented through a modern animated aesthetic.

The first day cover, validated in Ankara on April 23, 2026, complements the series with a detailed illustration showing the characters in two different scenes. In the first, they appear as a rock band outdoors, with instruments and a characteristic Anatolian landscape, including a stylized van reminiscent of Turkish rock groups from the 1970s. In the second scene, the characters are shown in an informal setting, lying on a patterned rug surrounded by instruments and musical accessories, highlighting themes of friendship, leisure and musical culture.

The theme of the issue brings together two major cultural layers – cartoon art and music. Cartooning as an artistic genre has a long history, beginning with medieval preparatory drawings and evolving through the satirical cartoons of the 19th century to modern animated films. In this series it is used to create lively, modern characters who present musical culture in an accessible and engaging way. Musical instruments, on the other hand, symbolize the rich tradition of Anatolian rock – a genre that blends local melodies with elements of Western rock and forms an important part of Turkish cultural identity.

“Cartoon Heroes: Anatolia Rock” is an issue that successfully combines tradition and modernity, music and animation, cultural heritage and contemporary visual aesthetics. The series stands out with bright colors, dynamic composition and a distinctive style that makes it particularly attractive for thematic collections. The limited print run, high‑quality digital printing and impressive first day cover make this release one of the most memorable Turkish philatelic events of 2026.
